Honda Activa 3G Price: Mileage, Colours & Buying Guide

Used Activa 3G: real mileage, specs, model years and a buying checklist.

Honda Activa 3G Price: Mileage, Colours & Buying Guide

The Honda Activa 3G launched in February 2015 at ₹48,852 ex-showroom Delhi, and Honda stopped making it in 2017. So every Activa 3G price you see today is a used price. It's set by registration year, owner count, service history and condition, not by the badge.

Expect about 45 kmpl in daily riding against Honda's claimed 60, and five launch colours, two of them new for this generation. A used 3G still makes sense if you buy the best-kept one, not the cheapest one.

Quick verdict

  • Good for: city commuting, first-time riders and errands. The carburettor engine is simple, and almost any mechanic knows it.
  • Real mileage: about 45 kmpl, against Honda's claimed 60 kmpl.
  • The trade-offs: BS-III engine, drum brakes, no ABS, and the fewest registration years left of any Activa.
  • The check most buyers skip: how long the RC has before the 15-year mark.

Activa 3G price: new vs pre-owned

Honda launched the 3G in February 2015 at ₹48,852 ex-showroom Delhi. You can't buy one new today, so every Activa 3G price you see is a used price. Four things set it, in this order: registration year, owner count, service history and condition. The odometer comes after all four.

The mistake to avoid: paying extra for fresh paint. Body panels are easy to respray, which is why sellers fix them first.

At 108 kg, it's easy in traffic but heavier than it looks on the main stand. The 5.3-litre tank gives roughly 240 km at real-world mileage.

Activa 3G mileage in the real world

Honda's claimed figure is 60 kmpl, measured on a test cycle with no traffic, no potholes and no pillion. Owners report about 45 kmpl. Activa 3G mileage per liter and kmpl are the same number.

That works out to about 22 litres per 1,000 km.

It's a city scooter, happiest at steady 40 to 50 km/h. Hold it near its 82 km/h ceiling on open roads and it works harder and drinks more.

Activa 3G mileage after 10 years? Age alone doesn't wreck it. Neglect does. A well-serviced 3G should still sit near 45 kmpl. Far less usually means a clogged air filter, an old spark plug, an uncleaned carburettor, a worn belt or low tyre pressure.

Ask the seller how far a full tank goes. Owners know that number.

Colour schemes

The 3G launched in five core colours: Trance Blue Metallic, Lusty Red Metallic, Geny Grey Metallic, Pearl Amazing White, and Black. Trance Blue Metallic and Lusty Red Metallic were introduced as signature shades for this generation. HMSI later updated the palette with Imperial Red Metallic, Majestic Brown Metallic, and Matte Axis Grey Metallic.

Colour matters less than paint. In daylight, look along the side panels. If the front and rear don't match, something was replaced.

Activa 3G model year and how it evolved?

The 3G arrived in February 2015 with Honda Eco Technology (HET), Combined Braking System (CBS), tubeless tyres, new side panels, indicators and a 3D emblem. The engine carried over from the earlier Activa.

BS-III two-wheelers couldn't be registered from 1 April 2017, so many late 3Gs were registered in a rush that March. That's normal. Dates that don't fit together are not.

To tell a 3G from a 4G: the 3G is BS-III with a headlamp on/off switch. The 4G arrived in March 2017, is BS-IV, and runs with the headlamp always on. The manufacturing date on the RC settles it.

Advantages vs trade-offs

What works. It feels stable at city speeds, and the CVT pulls smoothly through the mid-range. The engine is simple and easy to service. CBS helps newer riders.

What doesn't. Top-end pull fades on fast roads. Drum brakes feel dated in wet, hard stops. The pillion seat is basic, so long rides with a passenger get tiring.

Pick your priority.

Pre-purchase inspection checklist

Documentation check

  • RC. Chassis and engine numbers must match the scooter. Not roughly. Exactly. Check owner count and any loan against it.
  • Dates. Compare manufacturing and registration dates, then count the years left before the 15-year mark.
  • Service book. Look for regular stamps. A gap of a year or more needs an explanation.
  • NOC, insurance, PUC and challans. NOC is needed if registered in another state. Check the registration number for pending challans, which follow the scooter, not the seller.

Static inspection

  • Engine casing and carburettor. Look for oil seepage at the joints and fuel weeping around the               carburettor.
  • Drive belt. There's no chain on a scooter. Ask when the belt and rollers were last changed.
  • Front suspension. Press the handlebar down a few times. Knocks, uneven bounce, or side-to-side play in the bottom-link arms and rubber bushings mean suspension work is due.
  • Frame and alignment. Lift the floor mat and check for rust. Stand behind the scooter: wheels should line up with a centred handlebar.
  • Tyres. Check the tread and the date code. A tyre four or more years old has hardened, whatever the tread looks like.

Test ride

  • Cold start. Ask the seller not to warm it up. Self-start and kick should both work, with a steady idle.
  • Pull-away. There's no clutch lever or gear to engage. The automatic drive should take up smoothly. Judder means belt, rollers or clutch.
  • Braking. Brake from about 40 km/h on the left lever. It should stop straight, with no handlebar wobble. Blue or white smoke after warm-up means oil is burning.

The mistake to avoid: trusting a low odometer over a full service book.

Routine maintenance and ownership costs

Follow the schedule in the owner's manual or at an authorised service centre, and ask the seller for the date and odometer reading of the last service. The usual wear items are the battery, tyres, engine oil, drive belt and rollers, brake shoes, air filter and spark plug.

None of that is a reason to walk away. All of it is leverage. Get a mechanic's quote for every worn item you spot and take it off the price. Third-party insurance is mandatory; compare the own-damage cover quote before deciding.

Who used Activa 3G suits?

It suits daily office commuters, college riders, first-timers and city navigators who want something light and forgiving. It suits you less if you plan to keep it for many years in Delhi NCR, ride fast roads daily, or carry a pillion on long trips.

Resale value and upgrading

The 3G loses value every year it moves toward the 15-year mark, and in Delhi NCR, orders already bar re-registering petrol vehicles older than 15 years. Enforcement rules for them have shifted more than once, so check the current position. If you're thinking of selling, sooner beats later. A stamped service book and clean RC move the number more than a wash.

When you're ready to upgrade, Vutto offers Best Market Price Guaranteed, instant vehicle evaluation, hassle-free RC transfer and same-day payment. The scooter leaves your name the right way.

Frequently asked questions

1. Is a used Activa 3G worth buying today? Yes, if the service book is complete, the RC matches the scooter and the price reflects the years left. Miss one and that scooter is somebody else's problem.

2. What is the Activa 3G mileage per liter? Honda's claimed figure is 60 kmpl. Owners report about 45 kmpl in real riding. kmpl is kilometres per litre.

3. What mileage does an Activa 3G give after 10 years? A well-serviced one stays close to 45 kmpl. If it's far below that, check the air filter, spark plug, carburettor and drive belt before you agree on a price.

4. What is the Activa 3G fuel tank capacity? 5.3 litres. At about 45 kmpl, a full tank covers roughly 240 km.

5. How much does the Activa 3G weigh? The Activa 3G weight is 108 kg (kerb). Easy in traffic, noticeable on the main stand.

6. What are the Activa 3G cc and top speed? It has a 109.2 cc engine making about 8 bhp, with a top speed around 82 km/h. It's comfortable at city speeds and strained on fast roads.

7. Which model year is the Activa 3G? It was made from 2015 to 2017. Go by the manufacturing date on the RC, not the year the seller quotes. That date also separates it from the BS-IV 4G.

8. Is the Activa 3G reliable, and what does maintenance involve? The engine is simple and widely understood, so reliability comes down to upkeep. Budget for regular servicing and the wear items above, and negotiate on any worn part.

9. Is the Activa 3G comfortable for a pillion? For short city trips, yes. The pillion seat is basic, so long rides with a passenger get tiring.

10. How much should I pay for a used Activa 3G? Compare scooters of the same registration year, owner count and condition rather than chasing one number. A 3G priced well below the rest usually has a reason. Find out what it is.
